120 mouth-blown glass ball lamps from Hadeland Glassverk to the Norwegian Trade Fair

Krook & Tjäder Architects in Oslo won the competition to develop the new lounge area and conference premises at the Norwegian Trade Fair. Their winning proposal focused on Norwegian design and Norwegian production.

One of the challenges met during the project was how to achieve the feeling of warmth and comfort in such a large space. Krook & Tjäder’s solution was to fill the space with our 4014 spheres from the Archive series. The colours used in the lamps represented the companies exhibiting in the Norwegian Trade Fair and that have activities in industry, at sea, coastal and forestry. To mimic these natural environments. The 4014 spheres were suspended across the space to give the essence of ‘glass rain’.

The installation consists of 120 mouth-blown and hand-finished spheres from Hadeland Glassverk in four different colours and sizes.

Based on Krook & Tjäder's initial sketch, Hadeland Glassverk designed the installation and developed a bespoke suspension solution.
