Hurdal town hall
600 solid crystal cones
Hurdal Municipality approached Hadeland to commission a large scale, bespoke light and artworks for the town hall
Our Design Manager Maud. G. Bugge designed a ten tier chandelier consisting of 600 solid crystal cones.
The emblem for the Hurdal Municipality contains a cone so this was a fitting and personal design.
Oxidised and clear lacquered iron was used to make the chandelier's ten rings. Each ring holds crystal cones of five different sizes. LEDs are used to light the chandelier and shine through the massive cone forms. The light gathers inside the cones and creates a glowing, textural surface.
Maud, who is also an artist painted a large artwork in colours that echoed the chandelier. Maud also designed art glass that was installed in a frame oxidised material used in the chandelier. The chandelier and artworks sit wonderfully together and within the space used to hold intimate concerts and ceremonies.
