H&M Flagship Store Oslo

Gravity

AVA Eiendom have transformed Karl Johans gate 14 . The historic brick building that lines Oslo’s parade street stands as the Flagship Store and headquarters for the Norwegian-Iceland branch of H&M.

The client and tenant wanted a bespoke, design-led lighting installation spanning seven floors and 26 m in height.

The Gravity project shows the result strong collaboration between lighting designer, Norwegian glassblowing tradition and an ambitious and quality-conscious client.

The concept of "Gravity"

The concept of "Gravity" plays on the acceleration of a falling object on Earth. The chandelier will offer visitors a sensual, quiet and beautiful atmosphere when moving through the floors. The solution plays on both the glass's reflective and transparent quality in clear spheres without light, in addition to glow from "crackled" spheres with light. The chandelier must be airy and open at the same time as it is experienced as a whole. The mouth-blown quality of the glass is essential for the experience both in daylight and in the evening.

The production of the balls at Hadeland Glassverk was an important part in creating the result Zenisk wanted, and makes special orders like this possible.
